Along the entire length of the Abava,, each section of the river has its own charm, it is both meandering and scenic, civilized and wild, calmer and faster. In the upper reaches, the river is straightened in many places, but immediately after Kandava, the natural course of Abava begins through a distinctly scenic valley, known as the "Switzerland of Courland".
Boating along Abava is varied - gradually there are also sandstone outcrops and coastal cliffs, which in some places reach up to 30 m in height. The section from Kandava to Sabile is rich in additional entertainment opportunities - Chužu marsh nature trail, cafe "Plostkrogs" on river bank, wine tasting and botanical trail in "Drubazas", toboggans and buggies in "Zviedru cepure". After "Abavas Rumba", the river becomes faster and less civilized after Renda Abava flows into mighty coniferous forests, and it should be expected that boating will have to be continued along Venta River as far as Naba lakes.
The entire section from Kandava to the entrance to Venta is included in the territory of the nature park "Abava senleja" - please protect nature, do not litter in the forest and follow the rules of the nature park.
