Irbe, with its sandy and steep shores, is beautiful beyond measure. Starting to boat Irbe from the village of Rinda, the first few kilometres along Rinda, at a higher water level, are completely enjoyable, and like the sunset in the mouth of the Irbe, highly recommended.
In recent years, the main problem in the Irbe River is the number of boaters on holidays, if possible start boating already on Friday, or even earlier, to avoid the abundance of nature lovers.
Along the entire length of the river, the current is calm, the last six kilometres of the river beyond the bridge over the Ventspils - Kolka highway is almost without current but the inlet to the sea is worth these kilometres. At the inlet itself, there is also a spacious Latvian State Forest campsite with excellent sunsets.
Throughout its length, the river flows through the Ances marshes and forests and the Oviši nature reserves - please be as careful as possible and follow the rules of the nature reserves.
You can start the trip in the village of Rinda, where you will have to boat through Rinda at the beginning, but you can also shorten the Irbe route a little by launching the boat already in Irbe at the Irbene radio telescope.
